What is Foodjin?

Foodjin is a halal marketplace for the finds you won't get on the big apps. We connect you with independent halal vendors ("Jins") and independent delivery providers across food, grocery, modest fashion, and services. Foodjin is a technology platform and facilitator -- we don't prepare, cook, handle, or sell the products ourselves; each vendor is the seller of record for what it lists.

How is Foodjin different from Uber Eats or DoorDash?

Foodjin is halal-focused and goes beyond restaurants. Every vendor commits to halal standards and self-certifies its items, and many complete our Halal Verified vetting process. Alongside food you'll find grocery, modest fashion, and services -- everything the big apps don't stock, in one app.

What does "Halal Verified" mean?

It means a vendor has completed Foodjin's vetting process and submitted supporting documentation. The badge sits at the vendor level -- not on individual items -- and is a process and documentation signal, not an independent religious certification or a guarantee by Foodjin. Vendors self-certify their halal claims and are solely responsible for them. If you have a specific religious requirement, confirm details directly with the vendor.

Is Foodjin responsible for the food or products?

Foodjin is a marketplace that connects you with independent vendors and delivery providers. The vendor is the seller and is solely responsible for product safety, quality, ingredients, allergens, and halal accuracy. You are responsible for the orders you place. If something is wrong, we will help facilitate a resolution, but any claim over a product is between you and the vendor.

What can I shop for on Foodjin?

Four verticals so far: Food (prepared meals from halal kitchens), Grocery (halal pantry and fresh items), Modest fashion, and Services. Pick a category from the chips on Home; availability depends on the Jins near you and is expanding as more join.

How do I place my first order?

Enter your address, pick a category, browse nearby Jins, add items to your cart, and check out. Sales tax and any delivery fee are shown at checkout, and payment is processed securely by Stripe.

When is my card charged?

For standard orders, your card is authorized when you place the order and charged when the vendor accepts. Pre-orders are handled differently -- see the pre-order question below.

What is a pre-order, and how do deposits work?

Some vendors require advance notice for certain items. When you place a pre-order, a 20% deposit is charged at the time of order and the remaining 80% is charged when the vendor accepts.

Can I cancel an order or pre-order?

For standard orders, you can cancel free before the vendor accepts; once they accept and begin preparing, contact the Help Center. For pre-orders: cancel before the vendor accepts and you're fully refunded; cancel after they accept and the 80% balance is refunded but the 20% deposit is non-refundable (it covers the vendor's reserved preparation and processing). Once preparation starts, it can no longer be cancelled. If the vendor cancels, you're fully refunded including the deposit.

How do refunds work and how long do they take?

Where a refund is due (vendor cancels, failed delivery, or an issue resolved in your favor), Foodjin facilitates it back to your original payment method. You'll typically see it in 3-5 business days; authorization holds release in 1-3 days depending on your bank. Refunds are funded from the responsible vendor's proceeds and processed on their behalf.

Who decides a refund, cancellation, or dispute?

Foodjin has the final say on any refund, cancellation, or change to an order, decided case by case based on the nature of the issue. Our decision is final and binding on both you and the vendor. We always aim to be fair to everyone involved.

What if my order is wrong, missing items, or never arrives?

Open the order detail and tap "Report an issue." For missing or damaged items we typically resolve within 1 business day. For full-order failures (wrong food, didn't arrive) we facilitate a full refund to your original card.

I have allergies or dietary needs -- what should I do?

Vendors are responsible for food safety, allergen, and ingredient information. If you have allergies or specific dietary requirements, confirm directly with the vendor before ordering. Foodjin does not inspect, test, or guarantee any item.

How is the order delivered?

Delivery may be done by the vendor (self-delivery), a Foodjin independent driver partner, or a third-party courier network (such as Shipday) for overflow. Either way, you'll see live tracking in the app. Pickup is also offered by many vendors.

Can I tip the driver or vendor?

Yes -- and 100% goes to the recipient; Foodjin keeps nothing. You choose at checkout whether your tip goes to the vendor or the driver. By default, tips on delivered orders go to the driver, and tips on pickup or vendor self-delivered orders go to the vendor.

Is my payment information safe?

Yes. All payments are processed by Stripe -- Foodjin never sees or stores your card number. See our Privacy Policy for details.

How does Foodjin use my data?

We use your information to run and improve the service -- fulfilling orders, support, safety, and personalizing what you see. We may also use data, including in aggregated or de-identified form, to promote and amplify the marketplace and its vendors. Full details, and your choices, are in our Privacy Policy.

Can my account be suspended?

Yes. To protect users, vendors, drivers, and the platform, Foodjin may suspend, restrict, or place an account on hold -- including pending an investigation -- at our discretion, until we decide otherwise. Most issues are resolved quickly by contacting support.

How do I report a product or a halal concern?

For a product issue, use "Report an issue" on the order or the Report a Product flow. For halal concerns, email halal@foodjin.org -- we investigate every report with the vendor and respond within 24 hours.

How do I become a Foodjin Jin (vendor)?

Email hello@foodjin.org or apply via foodjin.org/partner. We onboard new vendors weekly.

How do I contact support?

Email support@foodjin.org for order and account help, or halal@foodjin.org for halal-specific concerns.
